INT. MEL'S OFFICE.  DAY.

                                         RHONDA
                  The zoning hearing was pushed to tomorrow.  And last,
                  and most importantly on the agenda this morning… Muffins!!!

                                         MEL
                  Ooohh, I don't think I can, had waffles yesterday.

                                         RHONDA
                  You had carbs without me??!

                                         MEL
                  Joe made syrup with bourbon, pecans, and cinnamon.
                 
It was like Christmas in my mouth!

JULIE IS BEHIND THE COUNTER. KATIE BURSTS IN, ENRAGED OVER A VERY DIFFICULT MORNING WITH
HER EX-HUSBAND. SHE TAKES OFF HER JACKET WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY.

                                         KATIE
                   DAMMIT!

                   Am I getting fire?
                                         KATIE
                  
Not if you answer this question correctly. 
                   Do you think that I put my son Richard
in
                   West Bridge School for him or for me?

                                         JULIE
                  
For you.  Ooo, no.  For him.  Uhh…for you? 
                   Oh, no, I don't know. This job is so hard.

                                         KATIE
                   You hand out towels.

INT. THE J-SPOT - EVENING
MONICA AND JOAN ARE BUSY GETTING THEIR RESTAURANT TOGETHER FOR THE OPENING NIGHT DEBUT THAT THEY'VE WORKED YEARS TOWARD PERFECTING.

               Joan, can I say one thing about these
               ugly, little candleholders?

                                   JOAN
               I think you just did.
